The Julia Tyler First Spouse Gold Coin represents the 11th release of the series and the third release for 2009. The coins went on sale on August 6, 2009 at the United States Mint.
The obverse which was designed by Joel Iskowitz and sculpted by Don Everhart, portrays Julia Tyler. She was the First Lady from 1844 to 1845 during the Presidency of her husband John Tyler. She was his second wife, following the death of his first wife Letitia Tyler. The obverse bears several inscriptions including the “Julia Tyler”, “In God We Trust”, “Liberty”, the order of the Presidency “10th”, the years she served as First Lady “1844-1845″, and the date and mint mark “2009 W”.
